Wellness Moves Outdoors as Homeowners Look to Gardens for Relaxation

Forget spa retreats. 2026 looks to be the year homeowners bring wellness to the home, according to the experts at garden building specialists Tuin.

Using data from Google, Tuin found searches for the term ‘home wellness’ have soared in 2026 as homeowners look for ways to create a more indulgent, restorative experience at home as wellness moves beyond a scented candle and a quiet corner of the bathroom.

Ben Chatten, Head of Product at Tuin, said: “People are busier than ever, and there is a growing desire to create spaces where they can properly switch off without having to book a spa day or travel somewhere specific. A garden sauna taps perfectly into that shift because it gives people a dedicated wellness space at home, while still feeling like a genuine escape from the main house.”

Homeowners are now thinking much more intentionally about how their homes and gardens can support relaxation, recovery and everyday wellbeing.

Tuin’s range of saunas create a space to relax and destress in the garden, helping to turn wellness from an occasional treat into an everyday ritual. Offering the spa feeling without leaving home, they also make gardens useful all year round and answer the growing desire for homes that support relaxation as well as style.

Ben said: “Stepping into a sauna encourages people to slow down, put their phone away and take a proper pause.

“Gardens are often thought of as summer spaces, but a sauna makes the outdoors feel useful even in colder months. That is especially attractive in the UK, where homeowners want to get more from their gardens beyond the warmer weeks of the year.”

For those homeowners considering a home sauna, Ben advises them to incorporate one as part of a wider outdoor scheme.

Ben added: “The surrounding area matters. Simple additions such as a clear pathway, robe hooks, a bench, outdoor lighting or planting can make the whole experience feel much more polished and spa-like.”

Tuin carried out the research using the Google Trends platform. Searches for ‘Home Wellness’ have soared in the last 12 months to reach the highest point since Google records began in 2004.

Tuin’s outdoor saunas are available now, with prices starting at £4,721.54.
