Seasonal Styling Replaces Full-Room Makeovers for Autumn

As we move into autumn, interiors are set to move away from anything too polished or trend-led, and instead will become more grounded, layered and emotionally warm.

That’s according to the experts at luxury artificial flower brand The Faux Flower Company, who believe rich natural colours, tactile surfaces, heritage references and pieces that bring a sense of permanence will be big news as we move through the seasons.

Rachel Dunn, Head of Product and Category at The Faux Flower Company, said: “The key direction this autumn is what I’d call earth-first comfort. Colour will be a huge part of this and I expect to see lots of deep berry reds, russet, tobacco brown, moss green, muted plum and soft mushroom neutrals. These shades feel autumnal without being too obvious, and they work beautifully in homes because they add depth without overwhelming a room.

“I think consumers will be drawn to pieces that feel crafted rather than mass-produced, anything with an imperfect, handmade quality. There’s also a real shift towards decorating in a more seasonal but considered way, such as changing flowers, stems, cushions, throws and table styling, rather than constantly redecorating the whole home.”

Rachel believes rising costs, as well as the changing nature of the home, is driving this move.

She added: “People are being much more considered about what they bring into their homes. The cost of living has made consumers think carefully about value, but that doesn’t necessarily mean buying less beautifully. It means buying better.

“Our homes have become places of comfort, work, entertaining and escape, so interiors need to feel nurturing. We’re seeing people reject very cold, minimal spaces in favour of rooms that feel personal, warm and lived-in.”

The Faux Flower Company’s range of artificial stems are ideal for those homeowners who want to create their own seasonal arrangements. Each stem is handcrafted, so no two are ever the same, and beautifully mimic their real-life counterpart.

Rachel advises choosing stems that feel layered and tactile; foliage with movement, berries, branches, seed heads, hydrangeas, dahlias and autumnal leaves. The aim is to create arrangements that feel gathered and natural, almost as though they’ve been collected from the garden, but with the permanence of faux flowers.

Rachel said: “That balance between wildness and longevity feels very right for 2026.”

The Faux Flower Company’s range of luxury artificial stems are available now, priced from £5.50 per stem.
