Herringbone Reimagined: New Woodpecker Flooring Designs Bring Warmth, Texture and Character
From soft, natural oaks and warm golden tones to beautifully textured finishes full of rustic character, herringbone flooring is getting a fresh new look.
British flooring specialist Woodpecker Flooring has unveiled seven new herringbone designs, offering homeowners even more ways to introduce the timeless pattern into their interiors.
The new additions span all three of Woodpecker Flooring’s signature collections – Harlech, Dartmouth and Berkeley – with a choice of colours, textures and finishes designed to complement everything from relaxed, contemporary spaces to more traditional homes.
Whether it’s the understated elegance of a pale oak floor, the warmth of golden timber or the distinctive character of a rustic finish, the new designs celebrate the natural beauty of wood while bringing a fresh perspective to one of interior design’s most enduring flooring patterns.
Darwyn Ker, Managing Director of Woodpecker Flooring, said: “Herringbone flooring has a timeless appeal, but what makes it so exciting is how versatile it can be. The distinctive pattern brings movement and interest to a room, while the choice of colour, grain and finish can completely change the overall look and feel.
“With these seven new designs, we wanted to give homeowners even more choice when it comes to finding a herringbone floor that reflects their personal style.
“They celebrate everything that makes natural wood flooring so special, combining beautiful colours, distinctive textures and timeless design.”
New to the Berkeley collection is Cottage Oak, a beautifully rustic floor brimming with timeworn character. Rich, inviting tones, enhanced through a traditional smoking technique, bring depth and warmth to the wood, creating a statement finish with an unmistakable sense of heritage.
Joining the Dartmouth collection, which celebrates the more expressive side of oak, are Beaten Oak and Gingersnap Oak.
Raw, authentic and beautifully understated, Beaten Oak showcases the artistry of traditional craftsmanship. Its hand-scraped finish reveals the quieter side of oak, bringing subtle texture and effortless elegance to interiors. In contrast, Gingersnap Oak has a rich patina and distinctive character that gives the floor a wonderful sense of history and individuality.
Meanwhile, the Harlech collection welcomes four new herringbone designs, each offering its own interpretation of oak’s timeless appeal.
Brook Oak brings warmth and depth through its rich sherry tones, creating a sophisticated yet inviting finish, while the soft golden hues of Natural Oak offer a lighter, more relaxed aesthetic that radiates warmth.
Bringing a sense of understated tranquillity to the collection, Amaretti Oak combines golden caramel hues with subtle rustic character, striking a beautiful balance between warmth and simplicity. Completing the quartet, Strait Oak offers a cooler, more contemporary interpretation, with delicate silvery tones that allow the wood’s natural grain and beauty to take centre stage.
Together, the seven new designs offer a fresh take on the timeless appeal of herringbone flooring, combining the natural beauty of oak with distinctive colours, textures and finishes to bring warmth, character and understated luxury to every home.
Woodpecker Flooring’s seven new herringbones are available now, with prices starting at £85 per m2. All come with a 100-year warranty.
