Decorating: Inspired by India – a modern British block printer
Molly Mahon
Molly Mahon is a British block printer and textile designer who marries the traditional craft of Indian block printing with a modern English aesthetic. When Molly first visited Jaipur to further her education in the craft, she was blown away by the sheer joy of the incredible craftsmanship she found. From that very first moment India became a huge source of inspiration to Molly – the architecture & buildings, the decoration & patterns, and the rich, joyful bold colours. Her life and work is now firmly intertwined with Jaipur.
Molly is determined to play a part in keeping the craft of block printing alive and is extremely proud that she is now printing over 4000 metres a month in her studio in Rajasthan. This would be possible in a day, printed digitally on a machine in the UK, but a piece of hand block printed cloth holds a depth like no other.
Here are some of her favourite designs inspired by India and resulting rooms.
